Pawky helps you find walking buddies for your dog. For that, we need a little information about you and your dog. Here is what, why, who sees it, and how you stay in control.

Who looks after your data

Lily Barberou, who publishes Pawky, is the data controller. Any question: hello@lilybarberou.fr.

What Pawky stores

  • Your account: email, first name, password (hashed, nobody can read it), photo and bio if you add them, your language. With Google, we receive your name, email and photo.
  • Your area: a location blurred before it is stored (to within a few hundred meters). Your exact address is never stored.
  • Your dogs: name, photos, breed, sex, age, size, energy, recall, neutering, heat, need for space, vaccinations (as you declare them).
  • Your walks: the ones you organize or join, their meeting point and route, your feedback after a walk, shared photos.
  • Your messages and the photos sent in conversations.
  • Your settings: notifications, area alerts, “I'm free” availabilities, followed dogs, blocked people, invitations (who invited you to Pawky).
  • A lost dog alert, if you start one: what you put in it, including your phone number if you choose to show it.
  • Your reports and feedback sent from the app.
  • Technical information: IP address and device type of your sessions (security, abuse limits), and your phone's push address if you turn notifications on.

Why

  • To run Pawky (your account, walks, messages, notifications, the emails it needs): that is providing the service you asked for.
  • To keep Pawky safe (moderation, blocking, abuse limits, error tracking): our legitimate interest, and yours.
  • To measure how the app is used and improve it: only with your consent, see below.
  • Notifications on your phone: only if you turn them on.

Pawky sells no data and shows no ads.

Who sees what

  • Other members see your first name, photo, bio, dogs, approximate area and the public walks you take part in.
  • The meeting point of a walk reserved for participants is only shown to approved participants.
  • Your messages and chat photos are only visible to the members of the conversation, and to the Pawky team in the one case given just below.
  • The Pawky team can look at your account and what you posted, for support and moderation. To understand a problem, it can also see the app as you do (messages included), without being able to change anything and for 30 minutes at most: each time, with its reason, it is written in the copy of your data.
  • A lost dog alert is public while it lasts, so that everyone can help.
  • Your email is never shown to other members. People you block no longer see your profile or walks, nor you theirs.

Services that help us

Pawky relies on providers, who only receive what they need:

  • the host of the site and its database;
  • a storage service for photos;
  • an email delivery service;
  • OpenFreeMap for maps (your device asks them for map images) and Photon (komoot) for place search (the text you type);
  • Open-Meteo for the weather and OpenStreetMap (Overpass) for dog places: only Pawky's server asks them, with an approximate location;
  • PostHog (hosted in the European Union) for usage measurement and errors, and Umami, without cookies, for audience;
  • Google, only if you sign in with Google;
  • your browser's push service (Google, Apple, Mozilla…), which carries encrypted notifications if you turn them on.

Some of these services may process data outside the European Union, with the safeguards the GDPR provides.

How long

  • As long as your account exists. When you delete it, your profile, dogs, photos, walks and messages are erased. A route you created that others use stays, without your name.
  • An “I'm free” availability is erased once it has passed.
  • The phone number and contacts of a lost dog alert are erased as soon as the dog is found or the alert stopped, otherwise a week after it ends.

Usage measurement and cookies

Pawky uses a cookie to keep you signed in, and your device's storage for your preferences and drafts: the service needs them.

Usage measurement (PostHog) only starts after your consent, asked once in the app, and you can withdraw it at any time in the settings. It contains no names, emails, texts you write or places. Audience (Umami) is measured without cookies and without following you from site to site.

Your rights

You can access your data, correct it, erase it, object to its processing or withdraw your consent at any time. In the settings, you can download all your data and delete your account yourself. For anything else, write to hello@lilybarberou.fr.

If you think your rights are not respected, you can complain to your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL: cnil.fr).

Minimum age

Pawky is for people aged 15 and over.

Changes

If this policy changes in an important way, we tell you in the app before it applies.
